Mansfield Chambers Barristers Receive Thanks from Cuban Five
Following their victory in the Court of Appeal, René González Sehwerert on behalf of the Cuban Five has communicated his thanks to his barrister Shivani Jegarajah, as well as Mark McDonald and Stephen Knight who assisted with an intervention in his case.
The Home Secretary had excluded René from the UK on the grounds of a politically motivated conviction. He had been invited to come to the country by The Right Honourable Jeremy Corbyn MP, John McDonnell MP, and other leading Labour Party politicians in order to speak at an event in Parliament. The Court of Appeal unanimously held that the Home Secretary's decision was unlawful. René and the other members of the Cuban Five now look forward to planning their trip to visit the UK.
