Mansfield Chambers welcomes applications for Full Membership from exceptional practitioners in all areas of Chambers' work. In family law, Chambers invites applications from well established practitioners of exceptional merit. In criminal law Chambers welcomes applications from practitioners with self-sustaining practices of any call. In immigration law Chambers invites applications from those with at least five years' post-qualification experience with self-sustaining practices and a desire to take on Chambers' own work. Applications from those qualified to undertake direct access work are particularly encouraged. In all areas of Chambers' work, applications from truly outstanding candidates will be fully considered.

Chambers will also consider applications from small teams who wish to join as a group. Our required standard of merit will be applied to all members of such a team.

Successful applicants will normally be invited to take up a 6 month Probationary Membership prior to the granting of Full Membership. This may be subject to reduction or extension depending on the experience of the successful applicant.

Application Process

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.

Applications for Full Membership shall be by way of a CV and a covering letter. The covering letter should be word processed, no more than 2 pages A4, at least 12 point Times New Roman or Arial, with page margins of at least 2.5cm (although reasonable adjustments may, by agreement, be made for disabled applicants) explaining why the applicant is suitable for Full Membership at Mansfield Chambers. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview. Interviews will take place in Chambers, with 2-3 Members interviewing, plus the equality and diversity officer in attendance. All candidates will be made aware of the results as soon as possible after the conclusion of the interviews.
